Conditioning Mike Tyson for the Jake Paul Fight – STAND BY FOR NEW DATE!

What does it take to get 58-year old boxing legend, Mike Tyson ready to fight YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul, an athlete 31 years younger than Tyson?  All eyes are on the July 20th heavyweight bout at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  The Wellness Center’ own Dr. Scott A. Weiss DPT will be there as his physical therapist on call, part of Team Tyson, continuing his association with Mike Tyson that goes back over 25 years.  Dr. Weiss will give us a backstage look at how physical conditioning, physical therapy and recovery is of the utmost importance for athletes at this level, and what he is specifically helping Tyson to concentrate on during this fight. 


Dr. Scott A. Weiss DPT is a licensed physical therapist, board-certified athletic trainer and registered exercise physiologist with over thirty years of experience. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy and medical qigong. Scott traveled the globe with USA Sports Medicine for over twenty-five years, attended three Olympic Games, two Pan Am Games and over thirty World Cup events. He helped Olympians, Paralympians and athletes such as Michael Phelps reach peak performance. As an avid rock climber and athlete, Scott believes in a holistic approach to physical rehabilitation & sports performance because, “You don’t have to be an Olympian to be treated like one.” Scott’s emphasis on research and area of expertise is in physical therapy and rehabilitation of the knee, shoulder, hip and lumbar spine. His clinical expertise has been featured in medical journals, magazines and on TV.
