For most of his career, Mark Adams has been watching the development of artificial intelligence. This week Adams returns to 1301 Avenue of the Americas — where he was previously the Managing Director of Healthcare Advanced Analytics for SVB Leerink — to bring AI center stage at the Club and share his thoughts on “How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love AI.â€
In the talk, Adams tackles the issues around why new developments in artificial intelligence are both exciting and can be disquieting. “We need to give business leaders a sufficient framework to help them evaluate the (sometimes counterintuitive) claims that are made my AI companies and researchers,†says Adams, who was COO and CTO at Adaptive Biotechnologies, held C-Suite roles in several biotechnology companies, and led artificial intelligence and data science teams in finance at Bridgewater Associates and Leerink Partners. Today, as a Venture Partner with Two Bear Capital, Adams focuses on life sciences, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, helping innovative companies utilize AI to advance breakthroughs in healthcare and information security.
In the talk, Adams plans to unpack the issues around AI as well as how to think about both the developments and the world they could create. From their transformative potential in industries like education and space exploration to questions of ethics, safety and professional development, Adams brings his insight and deep knowledge to the issues at hand to Club members. “[I’m most excited about] the potential for AI to enable us to effectively access and utilize massive volumes of data to answer previously unanswerable questions,†he says.
Join Adams as he explores the history, the key technologies, and the near and long-term impacts AI will have on us all in The Aurelian Training Room on Thursday, May 16th at 5:30.
